Staff Golf Club

A number of staff are reviving the University of St Andrews Staff Golf Club which ran successfully until almost 10 years ago.  The intention is to restart the club by initially having a society days/outings and then exploring the possibility of matches against other Universities.  Edinburgh, Glasgow and Heriot Watt Universities all have very active staff golf clubs and it seems shame that St Andrews as the “home of golf” does not have one.

Other Universities charge a membership fee for their club, however the intention is not to charge a fee at present unless it proves unsustainable to run without “club funds”.  Effectively things will be kept very informal at present with the hope to have an enjoyable yet competitive summer outing later this year and take it from there. People may join, regardless of whether they are members of a recognised golf club, providing they have adequate knowledge and experience of the game.  Those without official handicap will be allocated one for any outings.

To help the revival of the staff golf club, arrangements have been made for an outing on Sunday 1st July 2018 at Balburnie Golf Course (http://www.balbirniegolf.com/).  The cost is £60 for a round of golf plus catering before and after the round.

If anyone wishes to play or is interested in joining the club please contact Cameron Little (cl81@st-andrews.ac.uk) as soon as possible.
