Standing up for Science Media workshop (Edinburgh, apply by 23rd August)

Sense about Science is holding a Standing up for Science workshop at the University of Edinburgh on Friday 7 September. This FREE full day event is for all STEM and social science early career researchers (PhDs, post-docs or equivalent), trainees, and medical professionals.

The workshop includes discussion around misrepresentation of science in the media, how evidence influences policy, how researchers can involve the public in communicating research and gives practical tips and advice on how early career researchers can start standing up for science. Find more details on their website.

These workshops are very popular and places are limited. Please fill out the application form to apply. For further details, please email Sanjana (sanjana@senseaboutscience.org).  There are five places guaranteed for St Andrews participants, allocated on a first-come basis, so don’t delay!  PGR students can apply to CAPOD’s Research Student Development fund to cover the cost of travel to this event, and postdocs can apply to CAPOD’s Research Staff Development fund.

Closing date for applications is 5pm, Thursday 23 August
