If you’re the parent of a baby, or currently expecting, we’d love to chat to you about our new project taking place in the St Andrews Baby and Child Lab (located in the School of Psychology and Neuroscience, St Mary’s Quad).
The project is looking at the development of communication and social abilities in babies from 6 to 10 months. You and your baby would be asked to come in to the lab for 5 sessions, once per month. Each session involves your baby being videotaped playing with you, followed by a series of brief, specially-designed tasks that look at the social and physical abilities of your child. Each session lasts about an hour. You will also be asked fill out a questionnaire about your baby and to make occasional diary recordings of relevant behaviour and developments at home.
For each session you and your baby attend, you will receive a small toy or book as a thank you gift. At the end of the study, you will receive a copy of the video recordings of you and your child. Those travelling from a distance can claim travel expenses (including parking expenses) if needed.
We hope participating in this project will be a fun and rewarding experience for you and your baby! If you’d like to hear more or come and visit the lab, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our website at https://developmentlab.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk. We look forward to meeting you and your baby soon!
