Code First: Girls – free coding course for female students

Code First: Girls is offering a free, part-time coding course at University of St Andrews this year for female students who want to be part of the digital revolution.

Did you know that less than 10% of start-up founders are women? Code First: Girls aims to change this. Why? Greater diversity in the tech sector is great for business: studies have shown that companies with women in their management teams have a 34% higher return on investment.

So learning to code this term could be the best choice you make for your future. Just knowing how to use your laptop is no longer enough in today’s economy. Coding will give you the practical skills to develop websites, apps, and ultimately perhaps even your own tech start-up.

Classes will run for 8 weeks with a 2 hour session per week. The introductory course covers the basics of HTML, CSS and jQuery and the advanced course covers the basics of Python.

Applications for the course will be out soon.
