Increase in Postal Charges from 1 June 2021
The Mailroom has reviewed the charges made to departments for sending parcels and Airmail as the current rates have been in use for several years. This review has shown that these charges will have to be increased in line with current costs. The increases will be effective from 1st June 2021.
Parcelforce
From 1st June 2021 charges for sending parcels by Parcelforce will increase as follows:
Parcelforce 24 increases from £8.50 to £8.60 per parcel
Parcelforce 48 increases from £6.55 to £6.70 per parcel
Airmail
Departments may see a significant increase in the cost of sending letters abroad.
Airmail will now be charged according to the area it is sent, Europe, USA, or Rest of the World.
The cost is based on an amount per item plus the weight. Previously it was based solely on weight at £9.20 per kilo but Royal Mail now use different charges for each area.
The revised costs are:
Europe £0.76 per item plus £7.11 per kilo
USA £1.585 per item plus £10.305 per kilo
R.O.W £0.925 per item plus £7.745 per kilo
The highest increase is likely to be noticed for items going to the USA.
