We are inviting PhD students from across the arts, humanities and natural sciences, the apply to be part of Intersections, a collaborative project with composition students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to create new pieces of work based on your research. Applications close on the 4th of July 2021.

Through conversations about their work, sharing images and sounds, and developing an understanding of each other’s practice, the researchers and composers will contribute to and write new music which reflects either parts of, or indeed the wide span of the research being undertaken. These pieces will reflect a diversity of practice, demonstrating the creativity and precision in both research and composition. Examples from the 2020 delivery of Intersections can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYMFUFSGAMM&t=119s

The 2021 finished pieces will be showcased online as part of the INTERSECTIONS celebration for European Researchers Night. We are planning for the event itself to be performed to a limited live audience as well as live streamed online, however we also plan to record the pieces in advance in case circumstances don’t allow this.

To register your interest please complete this form and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
