Participants wanted (Females): Those with previous low mood/depression
Receive £15 for taking part in all sessions of the study. We invite participants aged 18-45 to participate in a research project that involves three sessions and a four-week daily home practice. We are looking for participants who have experienced depression (or low mood). Each virtual session will last no more than 1 hour. The first session of the study involves an interview online via Teams where you’ll be asked questions about your current and previous mood state. Your eligibility will then be determined. If eligible, you’ll then be randomly allocated to a group. The second session also takes place online via Microsoft Teams and asks that you complete four short questionnaires (that assess styles of thinking and mood) and a memory task. You’ll then be introduced to either a self-compassion or colouring group depending on group allocation. The next four-weeks of home practice asks you to either i) complete 10-minutes daily self-compassion practice or ii) daily colouring of an image via a free app. The final session takes place online via Microsoft Teams and asks that you complete four short questionnaires (that assess styles of thinking and mood) and an autobiographical memory task requiring you to retrieve memories of personally experienced events. The final session needs to take place 4 weeks after the second session. You will receive £15 for taking part in all sessions of the study.
If you are interested, please get in contact using the details below. You will then be given a Participant Information Sheet that further details my research and you will have the opportunity to ask questions (via email or Teams) before being asked whether you consent to participate.
