Supporting Student Learning module (applications open)

This 15-credit, Masters-level module is the first core module on the University’s new Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP). Although PGR teachers cannot currently enrol on the PGCAP, you can enrol onto individual modules if you meet the module prerequisites.

Supporting Student Learning is open to postgraduate teachers, early career academics and staff who support student learning. Participants on this module will be able to consider issues in more depth and breadth than is possible in the mandatory introductory workshops to further enhance their learning and teaching skills. This is a practice-based, professional development module which emphasises reflection on practice.

A pre-requisite for enrolling is that participants be engaged in some form of teaching or supporting student learning in the same semester. PGRs can apply directly to the module co-ordinator, Dr Heather McKiggan-Fee: the application deadline is 13th September 2021 (first class is 21st September). You will be informed as to whether you have been allocated a place by 15th September.

Places on the module are capped: priority will be given to staff enrolled on the PGCAP, then places will be allocated in the order that completed applications were received.  Complete this application form to request a place, and there is more information about the module on the PGCAP webpage.

Please contact Dr McKiggan-Fee on teachingdev@ if you have any questions.
