Academic Forum (Friday 3 Dec) – Embedding mental health and wellbeing in the curriculum
You are cordially invited to attend the next Academic Forum on Embedding mental health and wellbeing in the curriculum. This will be held online via Teams on Friday 3rd December from 12.30 to 14.00.
Colleagues from the Mental Health Task Force will provide an overview of the wider context, consider how embedding MH and wellbeing into the curriculum aids teaching, provide case studies exploring the relationship between belonging, wellbeing, the curriculum and academic progress in higher education, suggest tasks that might be achieved with relatively little added labour, and there will be an opportunity for participants to discuss what might be achieved in your own Schools without major effort and the pros and cons of agreeing to longer term goals.

MHTF Faculty Reps, Paul Hibbert, Paula Miles, will consider how embedding MH and wellbeing into the curriculum aids teaching, meets University Strategy and ties in with Enhancement themes around resilience/diverse learning communities |
12.45-12.55 | Jasmin Hinds/ Kenneth Mavor will explore the relationship between belonging, wellbeing, the curriculum and academic progress in higher education with examples from our own and other institutions Case-study from Medicine (pre-recorded talk by Anita Laidlaw) |

Neha Gopinath, Brian Chalmers and Alice Scriven, undertook the Microcredential in https://www.futurelearn.com/microcredentials/teacher-training-embedding-mental-health-in-the-curriculum identified that we already do much of what was recommended on the course. They will consider tasks that might be achieved with relatively little added labour and headline longer term initiatives. |

Small group work acknowledging the work already undertaken, discussing what might be achieved in one’s own schools without major effort and the pros and cons of agreeing to longer term goals. |
13.40-14:05 | A 25 minute plenary session drawing together the results of the small group discussions, aiming for some concrete action points for participants. |
