Marketing for Researchers Course (10 Nov)
If you want to find people to engage with your research, establish your voice and start your measurable plan for public engagement, then this session is especially useful for you.
In this informal two-hour session you will:
- Learn how to identity and reach your ideal audiences, looking at the people who use different communications channels, finding and understanding the demographics and data and complete an exercise in jargon busting.
- Find ways to develop and amplify your message though your content, words, images, audio and video in advertising, posters and leaflets. And how to link up analogue with digital communications.
- Walk through simple planning processes which will turn your ideas in to reality and introduce methods for coping with the results.
There will be opportunities to ask lots of questions. You can take notes, but you will receive a resource sheet, full of links and tips, by email, after the session alongside the slides from the workshop.
The friendly and informal session happens on MS Teams and is led by Jan McTaggart, who has worked in marketing and audience development in the arts for over 25 years, for, amongst others, the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Edinburgh International Festival, Dundee Contemporary Arts and, most recently as Deputy Director of the Byre Theatre in St Andrews. Jan is an experienced trainer who wants to make sure that audiences and experts have the best possible chance of making connections and believes that this is possible through shared understanding of the principles of marketing and a few, simple, sustainable tools.
PLEASE NOTE: we will be in touch in advance for information to support the facilaitor in delivering a bespoke session. Also, the session will be recorded for future publication, but that participants contributions will be edited out.
