Wednesday 2 March 2022

Have your heard about VIP (Vertically Integrated Projects) modules from an academic colleague/student and are curious? We invite you to attend this in-person event which will highlight the exciting research led by current staff and students as part of the award-winning VIP programme.

A Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) is an ongoing, credit-bearing undergraduate research module led by an academic supervisor and made up of a team of students from any level of study (the vertical aspect). The team of students can come from different subject areas with diverse backgrounds and skills across both arts and science. The VIP programme in St Andrews, established in 2020 with 5 projects, now represents 13 interdisciplinary projects with more than a 100 enrolled students across the Arts, Humanities and Sciences.

This in-person conference is a space for staff to discover more about the programme, particularly academic staff interested in starting-up their own VIP research module. The conference will be held on Tues 22 March from 2-4 pm in the Large Rehearsal Room, The Students’ Association.

We will showcase research presentations and a poster exhibition from VIP students based on their ongoing work. We will also feature roundtable discussions and a Q&A with current VIP staff about the experiences, challenges and possibilities of starting up and supervising VIP projects. We will also be sharing information on how prospective supervisors can host a VIP module in their School and the application process for starting a new VIP.

We envision this day as an opportunity to reflect on the exciting interdisciplinary research and collaborations that VIP hopes to facilitate in the future.

A detailed programme of the day will be confirmed shortly. Light refreshments will be available.
To attend, please book a space through PDMS.
