Curious about what academic research on Film and Media looks like? What is the wider value of such studies and how can it help us understand business, industry and social history more broadly? What can we learn about cinema through the example of St Andrews, and conversely, how can cinema help us understand the local history of St Andrews? How does cinema shape communities?

The VIP module Cinema Cultures welcomes applications for one or both semesters in the 2022-2023 academic year. As part of the VIP programme, you can be an active researcher working with academic staff and an interdisciplinary team of peers, whilst also earning credits! You can apply to take 10, 15 or 20 credits in one or both semesters.

We encourage students from diverse backgrounds and across all years to apply, especially those interested in archival research.

The project might be particularly attractive to students from the departments of Film Studies and Social Anthropology, and the Schools of History, Modern Languages, Art History and English. To apply, visit: www.st-andrews.ac.uk/education/vip/projects/cinema-cultures/
