Different career options outside academia will be presented and discussed, including roles in industry and other roles in Higher Education. Some of the pros and cons of some alternative career paths will be considered and participants will be given insight into how to research different career options outside academia.
This workshop will help you:
- Build an awareness of the statistics around doctoral graduate career outcomes.
- Understand the possible methods of researching other career sectors and job roles.
- Begin to have an understanding of some of the possible career paths open to doctoral graduates outside of academia.
- Have an appreciation of the employers perspective on employing doctoral graduates.
- Understand what it means to market yourself effectively when considering other career sectors.
