You are invited to participate in an honours research project on people’s helping behaviour towards strangers.

This study is being conducted as part of my, Shiqi Zhang, undergraduate degree in the School of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of St Andrews.

You will first read a hypothetical scenario of meeting two strangers at a hospital. Then, you will be able to decide how to help each of them and provide a brief written explanation for your decision. Lastly, you will complete a short questionnaire about your impression of each of the two strangers.

The study will take place online. You must be at least 18 years old to take part. It is anticipated that this study will take no longer than 25 minutes, and you will have the chance to win one of six £10 Amazon vouchers.

Content Warning: This study includes interacting with material that has mentions of hospital, naming of an injury, and portrayal of a distressed individual, which may cause mild distress to some. If you feel that you would be adversely affected by these subjects, please do not sign up to this study.
