Booking Open – Copyright for research (7 Feb)

Lucy Hall
Wednesday 1 February 2023

This workshop will run online.

This workshop will provide an overview of ownership of rights in research outputs, Open Access publishing, and use of copyright material in your research.

Questions to be addressed will include: What is copyright? How long does it last? Who owns the copyright of material I create in the course of my research? What copyright issues do I need to check when submitting an article to an Open Access journal? What are Creative Commons licences? Do I need permission to use pre-existing content or data in my research? What are the copyright implications of Text and Data mining? What is Crown Copyright? What are the copyright issues around software or code as a research output? What support is available to me?

What previous participants have said about Copyright for teaching and research:

“If you don’t know/understand what copyright is, go to this course.”

“I would recommend attending this course because it’s very useful to know about it, to be aware of your rights as a researcher/creator.”
