Despite a recent surge of migration from Hong Kong, which is anticipated to continue for several years, there have been hitherto few public discussions about Hong Kong Migrants in Scotland.

Hong Kong Migrants in Scotland: Opportunities and Challenges, supported by the Future Scotland Series, University of St Andrews, will assemble four distinguished guests – Dr. Sarah Kyambi (Founder Director of Migration Policy Scotland), Mr. Augustijn Van Gaalen (Policy and Participation officer at the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities), Dr. Michelle Huang (Lecturer in Art History) and Ms. Tim Tim Cheng (poet and teacher from Hong Kong) to share their insights and experiences. Prof. Gregory Lee (Founding Professor of Chinese Studies) will serve as moderator.

This public forum will discuss issues related to the experiences of Hong Kong migrants in Scotland, the challenges and opportunities they bring to Scotland and vice versa, and the role that Scotland should play in order to deal, welcome and accommodate these migrants.
