Compulsory courses for postgraduates who teach (Aug/Sept)

If you are a doctoral student expecting to teach for the first time in semester one, note that all new postgraduate or external part-time teachers are required to complete compulsory courses from CEED before they can do any teaching. (If you won’t be teaching till semester 2, please wait and do the courses in December or January.) If you haven’t done the compulsory courses, you are not allowed to teach.

First you must enrol on the Compulsory courses for postgraduates who teach programme in PDMS, and then book on and attend 3 live workshops: one Teaching, one Assessment and one Student Services. (Each has online and in-person delivery options.)  If you can’t make the Faculty-specific workshops you are welcome to attend any of the other ones – the same principles are covered, it’s just the examples that differ.  It is permitted to “mix and match” sessions, eg have some online and some in-person. In addition, you must also complete one online self-directed study course (Diversity in the Workplace – find the relevant section of the list).

See the Support for Postgraduate Researchers who Teach webpage for details of the full range of additional support available, including optional workshops and applying for HEA Fellowship.
