The Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) is a free professional practice programme for all staff at St Andrews who are engaged in university teaching or supporting student learning in a direct student-facing role, regardless of contract type or level of experience. The aim is to give colleagues a supportive space in which they can develop as reflective practitioners in a collegiate, interdisciplinary community, exploring and developing different aspects of their practice in dialogue with peers. This takes a minimum of two full academic years since you may only enrol on one module per semester.

PGRs enrol on each PGCAP module separately. You will need to provide evidence each semester that you have your supervisor’s approval and that you meet any module pre-requisites (such as teaching concurrently) – read the information on the PGCAP webpage carefully.

Use this link to apply for a PGR place on the PGCAP. The application deadline is 5pm on Friday 25 August 2023. You will be informed as to whether you have been allocated a place by 01 September.

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.
