Family Leave Enhancements

A series of enhancements to the University’s family leave provision for staff came into effect on 11 September 2023. Employees can read about these enhancements in the revised policies and new webpages. Links to family leave webpages/policies can be found on the HR Homepage

A summary of the changes are as follows:

Maternity/Adoption/SPL: Increase to occupational pay provision from 16 to 22 weeks.
Paternity Leave: Increase to occupational pay provision from 2 to 3 weeks.
Neonatal Leave: Introduce paid leave provision for eligible staff
Special Leave:
Carer Leave: Introduce 5-days paid carer leave.
Emergency time off to care for a dependant increase from 3 to 7 days.
Antenatal/adoption appointments: Supporting partners can now attend up to 2 appointment without losing pay.
