Getting a category of HEA (AdvanceHE) Fellowship allows you to evidence your professional practice in higher education and demonstrate your commitment to teaching, learning and the student experience.  It is increasingly listed as a desirable or essential criterion by employers across the higher education sector.

Starting in AY2023-24, the way that we support colleagues at the University who are interested in achieving fellowship is changing. The University will no longer cover the cost of direct applications to Advance HE. Instead we have launched an internal, Advance HE accredited experiential pathway: the St Andrews Recognition Scheme (STARS). However, places on the scheme are limited, so in some cases colleagues may still wish to apply direct to Advance HE.

There are 2-hour workshops each semester on how to apply for Associate Fellow, Fellow or Senior Fellow. These are open to everyone in the University who teaches or supports student learning (including professional staff), whether you are preparing a direct application or have a place on STARS. If you are unsure of which category you should aim for, Advance HE’s Fellowship Category Tool has been designed to help you to select the category of fellowship that is the closest match to your current practice.

This link will bring up the full list of all workshops and facilitated writing sessions running this semester. There are multiple dates in October and November.
