The Irvine Atlas Editorial Board is opening a call for contributions to our upcoming issue, to be published at the end of this semester. Reflecting on the role of academia in an era of global change and on our generation’s social responsibility in the context of the Anthropocene, we aim to generate a conversation on the central role of our disciplines as those that shed light on the interconnection(s) between social and natural systems. We are amongst the first generations educated to understand and tackle complex issues, being pushed to reimagining them beyond disciplinary compartmentalisation. We are empowered to critically reframe how we understand the Earth system and our positionality in it as society, communities and individuals. It is by taking seriously the challenge and opportunity of rethinking about the world in a less linear way that we can truly be the generation of regeneration. It is in this spirit that the Irvine Atlas is returning, and we want you to help us rebuild it.
