Wednesday 10 April 2024

Each June, the Europaeum Special Debate brings a group of postgraduates to the Portuguese Riviera to discuss a key topic in contemporary politics, in front of a select audience. You can apply to join a team of students speaking for or against the motion: “The future of Democracy depends on the capacity of Europe and the USA to build a coalition with the Global South.” The debate is part of the Estoril Political Forum, which brings together leading policymakers and academics from the US, UK, Portugal and the rest of Europe.

Successful applicants will have their accommodation, travel and board (including dinners) covered for the Forum, which lasts from 3-5 June 2024. You can read about the 2023 debate on the Study Abroad blog.

Applications are due by 3 May 2024.

St Andrews is a member of the Europaeum network, a group of 18 of Europe’s leading universities.
