Colleagues who hold a category of HEA Fellowship now can now become mentors and/or reviewers on the St Andrews Recognition Scheme (STARS).  STARS in an internal, AdvanceHE accredited scheme which allows participants to apply for a category of HEA Fellowship.

An AdvanceHE (HEA) Fellowship allows colleagues to evidence their professional experience in Higher Education, demonstrating commitment to teaching, learning, and student experience.  By becoming a mentor/reviewer on STARS, staff will be able to support their colleagues in achieving an HEA Fellowship.

To find out more information about this scheme, please visit the STARS webpage.

For the next intake of participants the mentoring process will predominantly take place over summer and first half of semester 1.  Reviewing of applications takes place between weeks 6 and 8 of Semester 1 AY 2024/2025, with a Recognition Panel in week 9. Mentors are expected to take on at least two mentees per year, and Reviewers to assess a maximum of four Fellow applications (or equivalent). Both are also expected to participate in STARS events.

If you are interested in joining the scheme as a mentor and/or reviewer please email [email protected] and sign up for one of the training sessions below.
