The Ocean Country Partnership Programme supports countries to stengthen marine science expertise; develop science-based policy and create educational resources for local communities. As part of this, the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is looking for recognised post-doctoral academic researchers to volunteer in support an international cohort of marine-science focused postgraduate students participating in an online training programme between August 2024 and April 2025.

You will be assigned as a mentor to one group of approximately 4-6 students and will be responsible for guiding them along the process of conducting their applied learning activity, providing advice as necessary and feedback on written outputs. The ACU would ask each mentor to volunteer for at least one of the three modules below, each of which runs for 6-8 weeks and has a time commitment of 5-7 hours from the mentor.

Module 1: Effectively engaging with policy and practice – tools and strategies for impact. August-October 2024.
Module 2: Creating knowledge together: successfully engaging communities in marine research. October-December 2024.
Module 3: Writing winning PhD and postdoc proposals. February-April 2025.

The first cohort of students will come from the following countries: Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Senegal, Ghana, South Pacific, India, Bangladesh, Belize and the Maldives.

To register your interest, please read the terms of reference and complete the portal form by 12:00 UTC on 11 July. If you have any questions, please contact the ACU.
