We are looking for cyclists to take part in a road safety study. From this study, we aim to reduce close-pass events—those unnerving moments when vehicles pass dangerously close to cyclists. This study is being conducted within the University of St Andrews Transition.

Participants must be 16+ and have access to a bike.

As part of the study, participants will engage in two surveys:

  1. The first survey is to gather your initial insights on cycling experience
  2. After completing this survey, your bike will be fitted with a close pass indicator at a bike pool session convenient to you.
  3. Following 4 weeks of use, you will complete a second survey to share your experiences and opinions on how the device has affected cycling confidence.

Incentives: as part of the study participants:

  1. will be entered into a prize draw to potentially win a £50 Town and City St Andrews Gift Card
  2. Will recieve a free close pass indicator (valued at £10)
  3. Bike Pool Participants will be eligible for a £15 discount on their bike hire.
