Participate in Research: £20 Amazon Voucher for Your Time on Facial & Eye Movement Data Collection Experiment (25-40 Mins)

We are inviting undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and staff at the University of St Andrews to participate in a research project titled: Facial & Eye Movements (Gaze Gestures) Data Collection Experiment (desktop version, 25-40 mins, excluding breaks)

NoteIf you have already participated in the long version of the experiment in mid-January, please do not participate in this experiment.

About the Experiment

This study evaluates gaze gestures under dynamic conditions (sitting and walking) using an eye movement collection app on an iPhone and web-based desktop platform. During the experiment, you will complete a series of tasks, including:

  1. Following a moving dot with your gaze (Desktop).

The experiment will take approximately 25–40 minutes (excluding breaks), and we will collect data such as face & eye movements, screen actions, and body pose from the web-camera of desktop. Rest assured, all data will be securely stored and processed before publication.

Compensation

As a thank-you for your time, you will receive a £20 Amazon voucher upon completing the experiment of the project.

Participation Details

  • Eligibility: Participants must be over 18 years old, have good mobility, and good eyesight (glasses are acceptable).
  • Location: The experiment will take place at the School of Computer Science, University of St Andrews.
  • Safety Measures: For tasks involving walking, we will provide a safe, obstacle-free environment.

Ethical Clearance

This research has been ethically approved by the School of Computer Science, University of St Andrews (Teaching and Research Ethics Committee, UTREC, Reference Number: CS16900).
