Europaeum Graduate Debate on AI and democracy, 4-6 June (31 March)

The 33rd edition of the Estoril Political Forum—organised by the Institute for Political Studies of the Catholic University of Portugal, Lisbon—investigates the impact of artificial intelligence on the democratic process.

The Europaeum will host an Oxford Union-style public debate, led by three Europaeum postgraduate students, who will speak for or against the proposition “AI is both an opportunity for and a threat to democrats.” St Andrews postgraduates can apply to be one of the speakers. The deadline for applications is 31 March.

Successful applicants will have their accommodation, travel and board (including dinners) covered for this three-day conference.The Estoril Political Forum is hosted at the Hotel Palácio Estoril on the Portuguese Riviera, an inspiration for the first James Bond novel Casino Royale and a filming location for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
