PGRs who teach: Essential courses (9-12 Sept)
If you are a doctoral student expecting to teach for the first time this academic year, note that all new postgraduate or external part-time teachers are required to complete essential courses from IELLI before they can do any teaching.
All remaining dates for this academic year are listed below. You are not allowed to teach if you haven’t completed the essential courses.
First you must enrol on the Essential courses for postgraduates who teach programme in PDMS, and then separately book on and attend three live workshops: one Teaching, one Assessment and one Student Services.
If you can’t make the Faculty-specific workshops you are welcome to attend any of the other ones – the same principles are covered, it’s just the examples that differ. It is permitted to ‘mix and match’ sessions across faculties and dates.
In addition, you must also complete one online self-directed study course (Diversity in the Workplace – find the relevant section of the list). See the Support for Postgraduate Researchers who Teach web page for details of the full range of additional support available, including optional workshops and applying for HEA Fellowship.
