Volunteer Research Assistants Needed: Qualitative Research
I am looking for up to 3 volunteer research assistants to assist with qualitative data cleaning and analysis on my doctoral research project.
The Project
The doctoral research project is investigating the long-term impact of COVID-19 on the psychological and cognitive wellbeing of older people living in the U.K. Approximately 200 participants have taken part in the study.
Background Information
Over the last two years (2023 – 2024), approximately fifteen 3rd and 4th year undergraduate volunteer research assistants have successfully assisted in collecting a mixture of quantitative and qualitative data as part of this PhD project. I am now looking for volunteers to assist in qualitative data cleaning and analysis.
The Role
As a volunteer research assistant, you will listen to participant recordings of the data collection calls. You will extract the qualitative sample and upload the samples into a qualitative data analysis software (NVivo). You will use the NVivo transcription tool to transcribe the data and self-transcribe the data when the tool can not. You may also support in the thematic analysis of the data. Prior experience of working with NVivo is NOT required. Full training will be provided, and volunteer research assistants will have regular contact the lead researcher (Effie Assan).
Time Commitment
Total time commitment is expected to be approximately 30 hours over 4 weeks 24th September 2025 – 24th October 2025. You should be able to commit to analysing data for 60 participants in total. This is the equivalent of 15 participants per week (approximately 6 – 8 hours). Training will take place week commencing 15 September 2025.
