Europaeum “Media and Courage” Winter Workshop (28 September)
Postgraduates can apply to join the Europaeum Winter Workshop in Media and Communication Studies ‘Media and Courage,’ to be held in Lisbon from 6-9 January. Selected postgraduates receive accommodation, board and reasonable travel expenses.
As disruption reshapes democracies, media face new constraints on how they report topics like war, human rights, and immigration. Once threats came mainly from authoritarian regimes, but now liberal democracies impose punishments and intimidation. The line between liberal and illiberal media systems is blurring, and engaging with media today demands a rare democratic trait: courage.
