British School at Rome calls (31 Oct, 14 Nov)

The British School at Rome has the following fellowships and awards, which are available for research on any aspect of the social, religious, political, and economic cultures of the Italian peninsula, and their wider textual, visual, and material dissemination and reception from early prehistory to the modern period and classical antiquity.

The Balsdon and Hugh Last Fellowships (3 months) are for UK-based established scholars.

Rome Fellowships (9 months) and Rome Awards (3 months) support early career researchers (within 5 years of PhD).

A Resident Fellow post (2–3 years) is also open to early career scholars, with a contract of 2-3 years. This is a residential responsibility, which supports the award holders and residents at the School. Deadline 31 October 2025.

The Simon Keay Award in Mediterranean Archaeology  (3 months) supports research in Roman Mediterranean archaeology.

Deadlines: 31 October 2025 (Resident Fellow); 14 November 2025 (others).
