Europaeum Graduate Debate “Independence in an interdependent world” (30 March)

The 34th edition of the Estoril Political Forum—organised by the Institute for Political Studies of the Catholic University of Portugal, Lisbon—brings together policymakers, diplomats, scholars and journalists to debate major global issues.

The Europaeum will host an Oxford Union-style public debate, led by three Europaeum postgraduate students, who will speak for or against the proposition “This House would prioritise global cooperation over national independence.” St Andrews postgraduates can apply to be one of the speakers. The deadline for applications is 30 March.

Successful applicants will have their accommodation, travel and board (including dinners) covered for this three-day conference.The Estoril Political Forum is hosted at the Hotel Palácio Estoril on the Portuguese Riviera, an inspiration for the first James Bond novel Casino Royale and a filming location for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
