Applying for HEA Fellowship workshops
Getting a category of Advance HE (HEA) Fellowship allows you to evidence your professional practice in higher education and demonstrate your commitment to teaching, learning and the student experience. It is increasingly listed as a desirable or essential criterion by employers across the higher education sector.
The University has an Advance HE accredited experiential pathway to support staff interested in achieving fellowship: the St Andrews Recognition Scheme (STARS). However, places on the scheme are limited, so some staff may still be interested in applying directly to Advance HE (there is a fee). There is also a self-enrol Moodle course with guidance on preparing a direct application.
There are 2-hour workshops each semester on how to apply for Associate Fellow, Fellow or Senior Fellow. These are open to everyone in the University who teaches or supports student learning (including professional staff), whether you are a STARS participant or working on your application individually. If you are unsure of which category you should aim for, Advance HE’s Fellowship Category Tool has been designed to help you to select the category of fellowship that is the closest match to your current practice.
There are also facilitated writing sessions where you can work on your application in a quiet space, with a Senior Fellow present to answer any questions you have about your application.
