St Andrews New Venture Challenge – Applications Now Open

The St Andrews New Venture Challenge, the University’s flagship entrepreneurship competition, is now open for applications. This annual competition supports early‑stage founders – students, recent graduates, and staff – who are developing new ideas or growing high‑potential ventures.

This year’s Challenge brings together the Santander Startup Track and Founder of the Year Awards into a single, streamlined application process, offering expanded visibility, funding, and recognition opportunities.

Funding Available

A total of £21,000 in prize funding is available across two tracks:

  • Santander Startup Track – £15,000 total
    • Three £5,000 Venture Development Grants
    • Open to students, recent graduates, and staff with ventures that are legally registered and trading in the UK
  • Founder of the Year – £6,000 total
    • Prizes of £3,000, £2,000, and £1,000
    • Open to students and recent graduates demonstrating ambition, progress, and impact

A special Science & Engineering Prize of up to £3,000 (funded by the ESBF) is also available.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Recent graduates (within 3 years)
  • Staff (Santander Startup Track only)

Applicants may apply as individuals or teams.

Applications close on Monday 13th April at 9am.

Shortlisted participants will be required to deliver a live pitch to judges.
