Give your CV a serious edge, work on a research project with staff and peers, and earn academic credits.

The Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) modules are now open for student applications for 2026-20267 Deadline: 9am, Monday 11th of May.

VIPs are education with an edge. A Vertically Integrated Project is an ongoing, credit-bearing research project led by an academic supervisor and made up of a team of undergraduate students from any level of study (the ‘vertical’ aspect). The team of students can come from different subject areas with diverse backgrounds and skills across both arts and science.

VIPs empower students to contribute to timely research on sustainability, the natural world, biodiversity and AI. Projects enable students to develop skills in statistical analysis, modelling, qualitative analysis, archival research and more!

Skill-focused: Join a diverse peer team and gain highly desirable employability skills. VIPs give you the authentic experience of the world of work.

Experience of Research: VIPs are active research projects! We have a range of projects across STEM, Arts and Humanities and the Social Sciences for you to choose from.

Flexibility: VIP ‘modules’ are available at 10, 15, 20 and 30 credits per semester. Also available at 5 credits for students returning to a project.

Continuity: If you love a project, continue on it for more than one semester!

Eligibility: Open to all UGs.
